    Regulating Digital Platforms: A Limitation to Freedom of Expression?

    Internet, social media, and digital platforms, which have become a part of daily life thanks to technological developments, are at the centre of some critical discussions regarding both their advantages and disadvantages to society.

    In this new era, where access to information has become more accessible thanks to digitalization, it has become much easier to both deliberately and unintentionally expose large populations to inaccurate information, misleading and false news, deliberate distortions, and content designed to manipulate.

    This paper aims to discuss the necessity of legal regulations in the media field, provide a brief insight into regulations in countries around the world, articulate who the laws are for and explain the battle between traditional media and new media legislation.
