They discuss the significance of ports in the Eastern Mediterranean both with regards to regional and international geopolitical competition, and the place of the Beirut port in this equation. They also touch on how the regional and international context relate to Lebanon’s domestic situation including the current state of affairs at the Beirut port, who stands to gain in Lebanon from the various reconstruction proposals, the issue of accountability in the country, and what lays over the horizon in terms of possible successful bids.
