Since the discovery of vast hydrocarbon resources, the right to exploit these resources has become the subject of dispute between Eastern Mediterranean states. Turkey, Greece, the Greek Cypriot Administration, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, and Lebanon have all made claims to these resources.
