This Info Pack explores reactions to the pandemic by African governments and outlines the common challenges facing African countries as well as the potential potential political, social and economic repercussions the continent may face as the virus continues to spread.

The African continent has so far largely been spared from the havoc that the Coronavirus pandemic has been wreaking on much of the rest of the world. However, the World Health Organisation recently issued a stark warning that “Africa should wake up” to the danger of covid-19 and prepare for the worst. In recent days, an increase of confirmed cases has been recorded on the continent. ​This Info Pack explores reactions to the pandemic by African governments and outlines the common challenges facing African countries as well as the potential potential political, social and economic repercussions the continent may face as the virus continues to spread.

Abdinor Hassan Dahir is a Deputy Researcher at TRT World Research Centre, and Project Coordinator for the TRT World Citizen initiative. Prior to joining TRT World, Abdinor was a Ship Chartering Executive at Negmar Denizcilik Yatirim A.S in Istanbul, and a permanent Secretary at Faculty of Management Sciences at SIMAD University in Somalia.
