There is a vertigo of information that exists on the subject of European Union (EU)-Turkey relations, and a pressing need to foster constructive dialogue against those that seek to do otherwise. In this commentary, points of change and continuity are discussed in order to help foster a more thoughtful dialogue. The EU’s membership mechanism and the principle of political solidarity, as well as Turkey’s long-established motivations, are some of the main points considered in this brief overview.
