This discussion paper suggests that in order to understand the long-term implication of the pandemic in Central Asia, it is imperative to look at broader underlying structural problems of the five “Stan” states, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, and their regional ramifications. All data and analysis in this situation are preliminary, as we continue to learn more about these new and evolving problems rapidly.
