His research combines process tracing and game theory to analyse state behaviour and foreign policy decision-making, offering insights into the strategic dynamics shaping the Middle East, Eurasia, and the evolving international order. He has published research and policy analyses on foreign policy, regional security, and geopolitical competition, drawing on both theoretical and policy-oriented approaches. Mehmet works in Turkish and English enabling him to engage with a wider range of regional sources.
