Onur Kanan is an Assistant Researcher at TRT World. He currently works as part of the TRT World Forum team. Previously, he was an Assistant Economy News Editor and Contributor at the Daily Sabah. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Translation and Interpreting Studies from Boğaziçi University, and a Master of Arts in Japan Studies from the University of Washington in the US. During his studies in the US, he received Gorton Centre Global Leaders Program Certificate (a nine-month leadership development program from October 2015 through May 2016) from the Slade Gorton International Policy Centre in Seattle, Washington. In terms of language competencies, he can speak Turkish, English and Japanese fluently. His areas of expertise include economic and foreign policies of Northeast Asian countries (Japan, China, South Korea, North Korea and Russia), the relations between the US and Northeast Asian countries, and the relations between Turkey and Northeast Asian countries with a special focus on Japan.
